Something about Elemi. It sounds sophisticated and I think it would be the cutest girls name. Call her ‘Ele’ for short. Ok, anyway. So this essential oil was one I came upon while looking for all things anti-aging. Yikes. Yep, just looking to take some preventative measures, that’s all.
Elemi essential oil, from Young Living, supports the appearance of skin. It is in the Frankincense and Myrrh family so they have similar properties. Frankincense essential oil is amazing BUT it is really pricey. So I have found Elemi to be it’s affordable alternative. I have not tried Myrrh yet, but that on intrigues me. If you use it, please comment below and let me know what you think!
This essential oil has a tangy-sweet aroma and a musky undertone. It is really pleasant and a very distinctive smell. It rejuvenates and restores healthy skin. I use it in my body wash. I do not make my own body wash, yet. But until I try to, I use St. Ives body washes and I just put a few drops of Elemi in the bottle.
My favorite body wash from St. Ives is this Sea Salt & Pacific Kelp Exfoliating Body Wash. I love that it is Paraben-free. Do your research on Parabens!! Please. I do my best to eliminate all Parabens; so I only use minimal if any at all. Then all I do is open the top and put a few drops of Elemi in, so I can get the added anti-aging and healthy skin benefits.
On a side note, I use a lot of fun, charming dishes to hold and display my essential oils (and my jewelry too). When I keep them out and visible, I’m more likely to use them! The dish in this photo is one my dear grandmother gave me. She knows I love and appreciate antiques so she knew I’d use and cherish it. She pointed out it had a chip in it but for me, that adds to the character. This dish was actually her grandmothers so it’s a really special piece and adds to my home decor. Display your essential oils, especially where you are most likely to use them.
