There is an interesting story behind the Thieves essential oil blend. This essential oil has amazing immune boosting properties and when you hear the story, you’ll understand more. The legend is that Thieves got it’s name from burglars (thieves) who were robbing wealthy people’s homes back during the plague. People wanted to catch these thieves not for what they were stealing but to learn what remedies they were using as they were not catching the plague. This is where the name Thieves is derives from.
The scent of this essential oil is very distinct. This blend contains Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary and is a hot oil with a rich and spicy aroma. It smells like baking and very fall-like.
Thieves is most known for immune boosting wellness remedies and prevention. Here are some of the ways I use Thieves essential oil:
- Toothpaste
- Mouth wash
- Cleaning supplies
- Health roller
- Hand sanitizer
- Sore throat tea (use with lemon)
- Diffuse
- Bath bombs
For the toothpaste, mouth wash, and cleaning supplies; I buy these already-made and directly from Young Living. The remaining items, in the list above, I make myself. I wrote a post on my favorite immune boosting health remedies, click here to view the recipes and be sure to give some a try!
After being a member now for almost four years, I get a really good discount. I first started by slowly bringing oils into my home as I ran out of “toxic” products. I wasn’t sure if I’d buy enough each month to keep my essential reward status, but that is not a problem. The 25% discount I receive back per month is mine to use toward oil purchases. I use this money to try other oils, buy gifts for friends, or to stock up on oils I’m running low on.
In all, I figure I have just been shifting my spending to natural products and buy less “toxic” products. There is an entire store of Young Living products that are ready to purchase if you do not feel like making your own. But, making your own products is so satisfying as you know exactly what ingredients go into what you are making.
