I’ve been so inspired by nature lately from my travels around the world and also within my home state of Michigan. Something about the peace and calm of the great outdoors that warms and fills my heart. The textures and colors in various landscapes just speaks to me. A walk in the woods. A strolls on the beach. An open field. An open field filled with wildflowers. A dirt road. A dirt road lined with trees and covered in snow. A simple sunrise. A stunning sunset. Coastlines, wilderness, rugged, and untamed. It’s simple and serine and the beauty of it gives me this desire to bring the outdoors, in.
My sustainable heart always looks for ways I can and bring actual nature indoors…rocks, sticks, pressed leaves, & flowers, etc. But I can’t bring it all in, sometimes there are rules and we need to leave it for others to enjoy. So this is where I draw inspiration…anything that is representative of the outdoors is a possibility…birch bark, pinecones, anything tree related, is what I search for. Be creative! Use rocks in clear vases, use sticks as natural diffusers, use pinecones and tree branches as decor.
Be sure to draw from the colors too. Natural colors will enhance the simple, outdoor look you are going for. Whites mixed with woods and greens laced between will help you accomplish your outdoor decor.
