Something I have learned is if I can’t pronounce the ingredients in a product I’d prefer to avoid it all together. What are these ingredients anyway? You guys, our skin is our largest organ, the largest! What we put on our bodies is just as damaging as what we put in it. What we put on our body will ultimately end up inside of it.

I have also learned to use the baby safe version of a product if it is available. I question products that are not safe to use for children and avoid them as well. Products that are safe for all ages with recognizable ingredients are the best way to go. Our adult skin is just a precious as that of a newborn and we should be sure to protect it.

When it comes to textiles always chose what is least harmful to the skin. Baby wash cloths are much softer and and there’s no reason adults can’t use them too. They are easier on your skin, especially your face.

Do you see where I’m going with this? With all this information, I challenge you to make your own face cleaning products. It’s easy, and the peace of mind it brings is worth it.

Here is some information on the ingredients this natural face cleanser contains:

• Distilled or purified water is free of bacteria that is found in normal tap water. Do not use tap water with essential oil recipes as your products will mold and shelf life will greatly decrease.
• Witch hazel cleans, tones, and conditions skin. It is a natural astringent that has been around for a long time.
• Jojoba oil is known as the skin care oil. It helps to balance, soothe, hydrate, and condition. I buy mine at Trader Joe’s as I’ve found it is the best deal and it is organic as well.
• Castile soap is paraben and vegan free and the most natural form of soap you can find. I always choose the gentle, unscented formula which is the ‘Unscented Baby-Mild’ then, I add scent using Young Living essential oils.
• Essential oil is the key ingredient to adding scent and wellness benefits to your product. Natural Face Cleanser Recipe

• 3/4 c. distilled water (tap water has bacteria in it and if used it will mold your washcloths) {click here}
• 1/2 c. witch hazel {click here}
• 2 TBSP. jojoba carrier oil {click here}
• 2 TBSP. Baby unscented Castile soap (use essential oils for scent) {click here}
• 1/4 tsp. of vitamin E oil {click here}
• 5 drops Young Living Tea Tree essential oil (for acne) {click here} or try Young Living Elemi essential oil (for anti-aging) {click here} 
• 16 oz. glass container w/ sealing lid (mason jar will work {click here} and I would use a plastic lid {click here})
• 7-10 baby washcloths {click here}
• Pretty label – I use washi tape {click here}

First of all, mix all ingredients into glass container. Add washcloths until liquid completely dissolves. OR double the recipe and store the face wash in a glass container with a pump like this one. Then pump onto washcloth as needed.

Trip tip: you can put these in a ziplock bag and use for travel or everyday on-the-go.
